Probing Collapse Theories Using Trapped Nanoparticles

Collapse theories have posited a resolution to the age-old measurement problem, one of the most pressing issues at the heart of interpreting quantum mechanics. What stands out about collapse theories is that they make real predictions, and are therefore testable. Here we propose a simple system which could be capable of testing collapse theories (within a certain range of their free parameters), by examining the dynamics of a trapped nanoparticle in a low-noise environment.
